Madness all year round here!

So much to say So much to say..and lots of photos to display.
Life is good and we are all very lucky, healthy, plump and tanned! Dubai weather has been amazing but the heat is creeping up on us and the Arabian nights are getting warmer each week.
January I went to Mauritius on one of Shauns layovers..I finally got to see what exactly his work day was like. Just like I suspected , its a lot of sitting around reading the paper. Business class wasn't too shabby and it's as if they knew I was coming, the bar was stocked with bubbles!

Look a studly pilot is waving at me!
Aint no cheap crap here! The kicker is that they pour any leftovers down the sink!! I made sure that didn't happen-What a  TRAVESTY!!!
."Champagne Miss Cristler?" Oh go on then!
Word on the street...The Airbus has the coolest captains!

all the crew bags at check in..take your pick-you never know what the others have packed!
Lots of new crew accommodations coming soon! Possibly with just the 1 star rating meaning practical and no frills!

Its Africa.. Busy, hot and sweaty, sometimes dangerous but there are nice parts. I know its sounds like
im describing myself here! We had a great trip, Kids didn't care one second we left them at a friends house for 3 days, we all needed a break from each other apparently! Mauritius is beautiful, turquoise water, pristine beaches, just like in the brochure. However it rained practically the whole weekend for us!! Good job the local beer was readily available and the hotel had a spa special! Shaun needed a good facial,,those blackheads of his were getting to be a problem!
The local Beer!!

Cristler about town..

We are becoming regulars at the bowling lanes at the mall ..Kids love it and the wooden floors don't!

We took the kids to Al Ain for the annual air show..Very cool.

you are on your own kids! Mummy is having an afternoon cocktail. Love our new friends with a boat!! Of course we would still love them if they sold their boat....ERM yes of course we would!

TRIP HOME TO SEE PHOENIX AND FRIENDS :) :(

What a great trip back seeing everyone WOW we were busy!! One of the greatest treasures in life is friendship and we are surrounded by lots. Thank you to you all who welcomed us, cooked for us, accommodated us, drove us around, lent us stuff, cars, toys, you name it!

HAPPY EASTER

Celebrating a Christian holiday such as Easter in the UAE, where the laws, shopping malls and work schedules are governed by Islam, is a rather different experience.
Of course the supermarkets stock plenty of chocolate eggs, but if you wanted to host an Easter feast, with forbidden holiday sundry such as chunks of ham and champagne, you’d have to put a bit more thought into it. I just bought a good guaranteed to please Butterball turkey and thankfully the fancy champagne made it home from France in one piece.
We decorated Eggs in the morning before it got too hot outside and headed over our American friends house to eat and drink till our pants split! Poor Shaun had to work till 2pm and had gone without sleep from the middle of the night departure the night before. A few beers and a change into his Easter Bunny costume he was good to go! As usual the La Rocco family provided non stop entertainment and lots of fun for us all. All in all a great time, not the traditional Easter with the Myers Family but we had a lovely day.
Since Easter Sunday is a regular work day here and the start of a new school term for many kids, lots of expats pretend it’s Easter on Good Friday (the first day of the weekend). Both kids were off luckily. Another difference is that it’s distinctly unspring-like. Being north of the equator, it is technically spring in the Middle East, but the temperature has been rising for the past few weeks, reaching a rather sticky 38°C (90°F) – and it’s only going to get worse. So rather than being full of the joys of spring and life bursting forth, it’s more like life about to get scorched under the hottest sun on earth. The warm weather means outdoor Easter egg hunts are a rather hurried affair, before the eggs melt into chocolate milk puddles and the children might as well go round with straws rather than baskets. Chocolate milk anyone?!

Easter Dresses removed for the egg dying process.

Thanks for checking in !
See you next blog xxxx

Happy New Year!

2011
Hope you all had a great holiday season. We enjoyed it here but it didn't feel very Christmassy with sand blowing around outside and the bright 85 degree sun shining. Uncle Matt made it in Christmas Eve after getting lost to the villa in the airport taxi and if that wasn't bad enough, he then left the duty free vodka in the dumb thing! Oh well Shaun had a backup plan in place thanks to his duty free shopping and Christmas wasn't ruined! Every one went to sleep at 8pm Christmas Day and I was left tidying up and watching tv all alone. BORING! We had plans on taking Matt to the desert and doing some 4 wd dune bashing but ended up going to beach and the hitting the malls  during his stay! By the way the after Christmas Sales sucked here in the stores! They were all before the holidays weirdly enough! PotteryBarn has 50% to 75% off half the store!
Jeanne has the longest tongue and its always a hit at parties

40 DAYS AND NIGHTS
My birthday was a successful night and needless to say I felt a lot older in the morning! Somehow we ended up being a party of 15 girls (and my brother!), some of the girls were very rowdy in the 18 seater Lincoln Navigator rented for the event, sorry driver! I guess everyone here was dying for a night out and came along. I found a fabulous swanky venue at a posh hotel that offered a nice place to relax over bubbly, enjoy conversation and enjoy a chilled out vibe under pink lighted palms and an ocean view. Erm yeah okay well that all changed when our herd arrived as we were rowdy pent up housewives on a mission! Free champagne for the ladies until 11pm!! We soon wiped them out of that and then sometime after the 3rd round of shots of jaeger bombs and slippery nipples we were promptly asked to leave!  I'm sure they have changed their special now to only 1 free glass of champagne and no large parties of cougars!
GOOD GIRL GONE BAD? I think not

Oh dear is this what 40 looks like!

Either I was trying to lay an egg or I was protesting that we had been cut off!

XMAS

May the force be with you ! (and also with you!)

Santa brought Seren a double stroller that gets loaded up with her animals dressed in underwear and brought everywhere with us now!
Too Sick to eat anything on her birthday sadly.
Uncle Matt and Samuel jump for joy boxing day

Speed Demon
4th Birthday Accomplishment.. It's the first ride without training wheels!

Hospitable stay in hospital !
Seren went off  to hospital for a much needed tonsillectomy. The doctors finally came to the conclusion that those fat infectious bacteria ridden nuggets had to come out as they were useless. Great hospital here, excellent care, horrendous food (curries and plain yogurt with a side of ratatouille ...barf!)
Seren is one of the few that enjoys being in hospital. I think she thought she was in a 5 star hotel and loved the attention and the fact that her bed fit in the elevator. She enjoyed pressing the red help button at every opportunity and although the nurses were lovely I'm pretty sure they were ready to give her another vile of sleep medicine! Her surgery took 30 Min's and I was sitting by her side when her eye rolled back the right way and she woke up babbling. I think she was talking Arabic ! Still sounds like she has been sucking helium balloons but hopefully that's not a permanent thing!
Off she heads to the operating room
No pet policy was waived for Doggy
.
Looking pretty rough for a while.
Ive got a nasty bag of Tonsils !
ready for cornflakes and her favorite, a bowl of rice!
BACK TO SKOOL !
Uptown Girl
Hoorah we are now well enough for school!!  Serens schedule , 7.15-7.45am drop off until 2pm ..great little school called Uptown. What do I do with my day now after I've done the 1 hour plus school run..well lets see erm...Workout, Clean house, Mow Grass, Iron ..Why of course I don't!

He works hard for the money!
Shaun is in his top bid month this month. Every pilot at Emirates get a turn at feeling whats its like to  be top seniority ! A very fair system and it is awesome this month for him. 16 days off and three 48 hour layovers in Mauritius and a just a crappy turn to Jetta at the end of the month to make sure he doesn't get too full of himself!. Pretty sweet for the most part. He's been on a boat trip out snorkeling the Caribbean with a bunch of flight crew and forced himself to have dinner and drinks later that night!  Bottom bid month is February and thankfully 10days vacation will save him from the middle of the night turns to Baghdad and Mumbai! Did I mention that I stayed home and slaved away all the while?
When in Rome..go out with hot flight attendants and spend the Per Diem ..YES!

Snow ops in Prague-
Shaun's leg back=Captain does walkaround haha

OUR بيت Bayt (house)

Hoorah after 5 months we finally get around to landscaping..Neighbour cats signed a petition to save their oversized cat litter box but it was vetoed. Seren offered the Indian workers forks when she discovered them tucking into their lunch of  basmati rice and chicken legs in the car port using their right hands (the left is considered unclean and never touches food!) Samuel was pretty disgusted to say the least but gave it a try at dinner later that day with his spaghetti!
Palm trees arriving next month along with a patio just in time to not be able to sit outside in the 100 degree heat! Will look good though!

Coming to a city near you Feb 22nd to March 3rd.
See you next month if you are Phoenix!! We can't friggin wait!

This has been brought to you by a stay at home mother who spends entirely too much time on a computer!
